3M will invest $50 millions

Minister of Trade and
Industry, Carmen Gisela Vergara, had a meeting yesterday with
executives of 3M, who visited the country to announce the opening
of an operations centre in the Special Economic Area Panama
Pacifico (Howard). The investment project in Panama is estimated to
be around $50 millions, which will then translate into
approximately 350 jobs. In the first stage of development, there
will be investments for about $15 millions, and 150 direct jobs. In
1996, 3M established its first office in the country. During the
first trimester of 2008, the company has seen an increase of about
40% in its sales. 3M is a multinational company that operates in
more than 60 countries worldwide.
