3M will invest $50 millions

Minister of Trade and Industry, Carmen Gisela Vergara, had a meeting yesterday with executives of 3M, who visited the country to announce the opening of an operations centre in the Special Economic Area Panama Pacifico (Howard). The investment project in Panama is estimated to be around $50 millions, which will then translate into approximately 350 jobs. In the first stage of development, there will be investments for about $15 millions, and 150 direct jobs. In 1996, 3M established its first office in the country. During the first trimester of 2008, the company has seen an increase of about 40% in its sales. 3M is a multinational company that operates in more than 60 countries worldwide.
