Caterpillar buys lands for $6.7 million in
Panama. The company Caterpillar got 100 hectares of land in the
Panamanian Pacific coast for a price of $6.7 million to install a
regional headquarter of operations for Latin America. Caterpillar
representatives and the Panamanian government signed a “Purchase”
agreement of the land located in the Special Economic Area Panama
Pacifico (AEEAP), on a ceremony where the president Martin Torrijos
was present.
According to the plans, the company will
develop a regional corporate head office which includes a call and
service center, the regional headquarters for training in Latin
America, a laboratory of fluids analysis and a logistic center and
distribution of equipment.
The company Caterpillar has foreseen to invest
25 million dollar in the next five years for its setting in Panama.
It is estimated that it will generate around 300 direct Jobs and an
equal number of indirect jobs during the next five years.
