Caterpillar installs new regional headquarter in Panama

Caterpillar installs new regional headquarter in Panama. Other
multinational will install in Panama. Caterpillar, a company
dedicated to the manufacture of heavy machinery, will be located in
Howard, the old North American air force base the largest in Latin
America, at the shores of the Panama Canal, as it was established
yesterday on an agreement between its representatives and
authorities of the Panamanian government.
Caterpillar got 100 hectares of land in the Panamanian Pacific
coast for a price of 6.7 million dollar to install a regional head
office of operation for Latin America. The agreement was settled
with the signature of a contract between the minister of Economy
and Finances, Hector Alexander, and the project manager of the
company, Don Elder. The company revealed that it will invest 25
million dollars, which will be used, also, to install electric
interconnections and to build a kilometer of road to communicate
with these facilities.
According to the agreed, CAT o Caterpillar will install its
Latin American Regional Corporate Complex in the area, where it
will also be developed a call and service center, a laboratory of
fluids analysis and a logistic and distribution center for the
whole region.
The Panamanian Gilberto Ferrari, manager of the Special Economic
Area Panama Pacifico (AAEEPP) pointed that “this is a great step
for Panama” and said that other multinational companies could
install in this country. The contract was endorsed by the presence
of the Panamanian president, Martin Torrijos, and the first vice
president and ministry of foreign affairs, Samuel Lewis Navarro.
Torrijos stressed the importance of this project that could
generate up to 300 direct jobs. Caterpillar moved its regional head
office from Costa Rica to Panama. In the area there are aerial
facilities and other logistic facilities.
